●  160 kmWarm-upRice terraces

Roll out of Hanoi and trade city traffic for open country roads — an easy warm-up to settle into the bike before the mountains begin. Overnight in Mai Chau.

★ Red River Delta dyke roads

The adventure begins in Hanoi. We slip out of the city early to miss the morning rush, then let the highway hand over to quieter country roads. This first day eases you in while still serving up scenery — Red River Delta dyke roads, the Perfume Pagoda region, rice paddies and Mai Chau valley. It is a deliberately gentle start: time to get a feel for your bike, meet the group and learn how we ride together before the mountains arrive. Come evening you settle in around Mai Chau, the White Thai, a stilt-house homestay and a cultural performance.

The final leg turns for home, trading the high country for rolling farmland and then the flat delta as we make our way back to Hanoi. There is still plenty to enjoy before the end — Highway 1B and rolling farmland. After roughly 3 hrs in the saddle over easy highway riding, we roll back into the city where the journey began. Bikes are handed in during the afternoon, and most riders stay on a night to raise a glass to the miles.

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure about something? Ask us on WhatsApp — we usually reply within the hour.

Do I need a motorcycle licence?
You should hold a valid motorcycle licence, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) with a motorcycle category is recommended for riding legally in Vietnam. If you are unsure about your situation, message us and we will advise.
How difficult is this tour, and do I need off-road experience?
It is rated Challenging, but you ride mostly on sealed mountain roads with only a few short, optional gravel sections. Confident road riders with some experience will be comfortable, and the guide adjusts the pace to the group. Total riding is around 1,400 km over 8 days.
What motorcycles do you use?
Light, reliable Honda trail bikes: the XR150L, CRF250L and CRF300L, all ideal for Vietnam's mountains. Semi-automatic options can be arranged on request. Pick the bike that suits your height and experience.
Can I join as a passenger instead of riding?
Yes. You can ride pillion behind one of our guides, or we can arrange a support car for part or all of the trip (from 150 USD per day). This is popular with couples where only one person rides.
When is the best time to go?
September to November and March to May give the best weather and clearest mountain views. The Mu Cang Chai rice terraces turn golden in late September and October, and are lush green from June.
What is included in the price?
An English-speaking guide plus mechanic support, your bike and fuel, safety gear, all meals, twin-share hotels and homestays, boat rides and river crossings, entrance fees and permits, and hotel pick-up and drop-off in Hanoi. The full list is above.
Is my luggage carried for me?
You ride each day with a small daypack. On days with a support vehicle your main luggage travels by car, and between overnight stops we help move your bags so you never ride overloaded.
What happens if my bike breaks down or I have an accident?
A guide and mechanic ride with the group at all times and carry tools and spares, so most issues are fixed on the spot. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance that covers motorcycling, and we support you fully on the ground.
How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry with your preferred dates and group size. We confirm availability and send a quote, and a deposit then secures your places. The rest is settled before or at the start of the tour.
