Follow the line north and back — every day its own landscape, from Ma Pi Leng Pass to Thac Ba Lake.
Roll out of Hanoi and trade city traffic for open country roads — an easy warm-up to settle into the bike before the mountains begin. Overnight in Vu Linh.
The adventure begins in Hanoi. We slip out of the city early to miss the morning rush, then let the highway hand over to quieter country roads. This first day eases you in while still serving up scenery — Thac Ba Lake, lakeside villages and farming valleys. It is a deliberately gentle start: time to get a feel for your bike, meet the group and learn how we ride together before the mountains arrive. Come evening you settle in around Vu Linh, lakeside Dzao (Dao) village and homestay.
Today runs Vu Linh to Ha Giang, with Thac Ba Lake’s palm-lined shore the highlight of the ride — ~6 hrs in the saddle over quiet secondary sealed roads onto the main road north.
From Vu Linh the road climbs and winds toward Ha Giang, running across quiet secondary sealed roads onto the main road north. The day is built around its landmarks — Thac Ba Lake’s palm-lined shore, quiet secondary roads and first mountain scenery — with regular stops to rest, take photos and soak it in. Along the way you pass through the Dzao communities of the lake country, a reminder that this corner of Vietnam is as much about its people as its passes. Plan on about 6 hrs of riding at an unhurried pace, arriving in good time to settle into your overnight at Ha Giang.
Today runs Ha Giang to Dong Van, with Ma Pi Leng Pass the highlight of the ride — ~6 hrs in the saddle over small, twisting, challenging mountain roads.

The final leg drops out of the highlands back toward Hanoi — one last morning of mountain roads before the city. Passing quiet mountain backroads on the way. Tour ends in Hanoi.
The final leg turns for home, trading the high country for rolling farmland and then the flat delta as we make our way back to Hanoi. There is still plenty to enjoy before the end — quiet mountain backroads and the return to the delta. After roughly 6 hrs in the saddle over mountain roads giving way to modern highway, we roll back into the city where the journey began. Bikes are handed in during the afternoon, and most riders stay on a night to raise a glass to the miles.
